A Revision of Afrotropical Species of the Eupyrgota (Diptera, Pyrgotidae): the spinifemur Group and latipennis Subgroup of Species. Korneyev V. A. — Based on the study of the type specimens described by F. Walker, F. Hendel, E. Brunetti and P. Vanschuytbroeck and exhaustive material from many entomological collections, species of the spinifemur group and latipennis subgroup of the genus Eupyrgota Coquillett occurring in the Afrotropical Region and Arabian Peninsula are redescribed. The following synonymy is established. Eupyrgota latipennis (Walker, 1849), comb. n. (= Oxycephala latipennis Walker) = Adapsilia ypsilon Hendel, 1914, syn. n. Eupyrgota spinifemur (Hendel, 1934) comb. n. (= Adapsilia spinifemur Hendel) = Metropina nigra Vanschuytbroeck, 1963, syn. n. Eupyrgota saegeri (Vanschuytbroeck, 1963) comb. n. is transferred from Lygiohypotyphla Hendel.
Key words: Diptera, Cyclorrhapha, Tephritoidea, Pyrgotidae, Eupyrgota, Afrotropical Region, fauna, taxonomy, new taxa, synonymy.

On the Recent Fauna of Subfamily Limnocardiinae (Bivalvia, Cardiidae) in North-Western Shore of Black Sea. Mynasypova-Motyash I. A. — The data on recent Limnocardiina fauna in lagoons and brackishwater lakes in the northern-west shore of επσ Black Sea are given. 8 species of Limnocardiina are found: Hypanis pontica (Eichwald, 1838), H. colorata (Eichwald, 1829), H. angusticostata angusticostata (Borcea, 1926), H. laeviuscula fragilis (Milachevitch, 1908), H. plicata relicta (Milachevitch, 1916), H. jalpugensis (Borcea, 1926), H. dolosmiana (Borcea, 1926), H. caspia grossui Scarlato et Starobogatov, 1972. Five of these species are redescribed with anatomical and morphological features of the soft body. An original key to these species is provided.
Key words: Limnocardiines, mantle sinus, adductor muscle scars, siphons and tentacles, siphonal retractors, gills, labial palps, mantle muscles.

Peculiarities of Allotransplantation Within the Hybrid Complex of Rana esculenta (Amphibia, Ranidae). Kozinenko I. I., Zhalai Ye. I., Zavodnikova N. S. — For purposes of unravelling the development of the hybrid complex of Rana esculenta an immunogenetic method of skin transplantation was applied for assessing the variability of hybrids and parental species according to levels of expressed histocompatability. The most heterogenic ones with respect to antigens of tissue compatability turned out to be species. Allodiploid hybrids are distinguished by a prolonged latent phase and a decreased level of allozyme variability and of antigen histocompatability as well. However, the rate of the allograft rejection in F1 hybrids is higher and may be a result of heterosis and could be depending on the overall immune status of the animals.
Key words: Rana esculenta complex, hybrid allodiploid, skin transplantation.

Opportunities and Restrictions for Some Algorithms of the Discriminant Function Analysis in Identification of Closely Related Species: a Case of Wood Mice Sylvaemus (Rodentia, Muridae). Dzeverin I. I., Lashkova E. I. — Empirical data on wood mice variation and results of numerical modeling were used to discuss the problems of applying the discriminant function analysis in working out the algorithms of identification of closely related species from morphometric characters. As usual, the groups being identified differ from one another at different extent. However, step-by-step identification (when firstly the most peculiar groups should be determined and then — the others) as a rule does not increase the correctness of identification. In the most cases it is better to apply discriminant function analysis to pooled sample without dividing it into subgroups.
Key words: discriminant function analysis, morphometrics, identification, Sylvaemus.
