Diagnosis of the group is supplemented, key to species and new data on their distribution are provided. M. fulvipennis and M. pontica are described based on type specimens. The following synonymy is established: M. austriaca Schilsky, 1898 = M. aureolopilosa Stschegoleva-Barovskaja, 1932, syn. n. Type material is deposited in the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg) and Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).

Tetrix tuerki (Orthoptera, Tetrigidae): Distribution in Ukraine, Ecological Characteristic and Features of Biology. Pushkar T. I. — The presence of Tetrix tuerki (Krauss, 1876) in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains and Transcarpathian Region nowadays is confirmed. Three different morphological forms of T. tuerki are distinguished based on the wings and prothorax lengths: brachypterous, mesopterous and macropterous forms. Only two forms of adults (mesopterous and brachypterous) and the larvae of middle and the last instars hibernate. Adults of macropterous individuals of T. tuerki appear in June, developing from the hibernated larvae. Some larvae of T. tuerki are emerged from eggs and become the adults at the same year, transforming mesopterous and brachypterous forms. In spring T. tuerki (brachypterous and mesopterous individuals) lives on sandy-pebble alluvion of mountain river coasts, but in summer it (macropterous individuals) prefers alluvions near the middle part of the river far from its coasts. All three morpho¬logical forms of T. tuerki inhabit the middle flows of mountain rivers and the foothills outside a mountain system; brachypterous and mesopterous individuals are widespread in the upper reaches and in the lower flows of mountain rivers where alluvions are rare. Body length of specimens of T. tuerki, inhabiting upper and lower flows mountain rivers are smaller then in other river sides. Vibratory signals of T. tuerki are described for the first time and the oscillograms of the vibratory signals are provided.
Key words: Orthoptera, Tetrigidae, Tetrix tuerki, distribution, Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains, alluvion of mountain rivers banks, phenology, vibratory signals.

Formation of Pattern and Diagnostic Instar Features of the Head in Caterpillars from Genus Peridea (Lepidoptera, Notodontidae). Dolinskaya I. V. — Pattern and colouration of caterpillar head of all larval instar of 7 species from genus Peridea Stephens, 1828 are studied. Formation of caterpillar head pattern in ontogenesis is discussed. Diagnostic characters, both specific and larval instars, are recorded for the first time. Key to species according to larval instars is given. Evidently, only larvae of the 1st instar demonstrate different directions in the pattern formation. This characteristic can be used for clearing of taxonomic relations in the genera and on the earliest ontogenetic stages (1st larval instar) only. In the following (2nd–5th) instars, the pattern became more or less of the same type. It depends on stripes shape or colouration only and can serve as good specific diagnostic character. To determine larval instar, both width of the head capsule and head pattern should be taken into account.

Morphological Variability and Differentiation of the Goldfish, Carassius auratus, and Prussian Carp C. gibelio, (Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae) in Reservoirs of Ukraine. Mezhzherin S. V., Kokodiy S. V. — Morphological variability and differentiation bisexual Carassius auratus Linnaeus, 1758, three clones unisexual C. gibelio Bloch, 1782 and hybrids C. auratus õ Ñ. gibelio on 20 plastic and 6 meristic characters are analyzed. It is established, that the factor of a specific accessory renders extremely authentic influence on variability of the most characters. Despite it, at paired comparisons all without exception characters essentially transgress, that does not allow to use them in practical diagnostics. Application of a complex of all characters gives an average level of discrimination of 5 forms at a level of 86%. It is shown, that clones C. gibelio are differentiated, first of all, on indexes of a body, and individual C. auratus in the greater degree differs from C. gibelio s. l in number of elements in meristic structures. Reliable differentiation of individuals of bisexual and unisex crucians or identification of clones of the last is shown to be really feasible only on gene markers in a combination with cytometric parameters. At the same time, use of morphological characters is possible in some cases for homogeneous settlements on series large enough and with taking into account sexual structure of a population.
Key words: Carassius auratus, Ñarassius gibelio, gynogenesis, clones, morphological variation.

Peculiarities of the Intra- and Inter-Population Structure of the Land Snail’s Brephulopsis Cylindrica (Gastropoda, Pulmonata, Buliminidae) Conchiometry Variability. Kramarenko S. S. — The substantial values of the intra-population variation conchiometry traits in the land snail’s Brephulopsis cylindrica, Menke, 1828 are estimated. Generally, the intra-population shell size and shape variation components are nearly 1/5 from sum of the intra- and inter-population variability. Thus, peculiar spatial arrangement occurs for the conchiometry variability within continuos populations (metapopulations) of the land snail B. cylindrica, and a clinal pattern of the variation prevails. The “conchiometry area effect” is detected in same cases, when a presence of the intra-population subdivision of the shell size and shape occurs under absence of the apparent spatial heterogeneity and “isolation-by-distance” model cannot be received because of low dispersal ability of the land snail B. cylindrica.
Key words: land snail, Brephulopsis cylindrica, population spatial arrangement, spatial autocorrelation, conchiometry “area effect”, North-Western Black Sea Coast, Ukraine.

The Variety of Species and Peculiarities of Distribution of Tetranychoid Mites (Trombidi-formes, Tetranychoidea) in Green Plantings of Kyiv City. Zhovnerchuk O. V. — The 28 species of 10 genera of tetranychoid mites are found on 101 plant species in Kyiv. The distribution of tetranychoid mite species in various types of city plantings is analyzed. The greatest variety of species is noted for botanical gardens. Schizotetranychus tiliarium Hertmann, 1804 and Amphitetranychus viennensis Zacher, 1920 are found to be the most noxious pests of plants in Kyiv. The cases of coexistence of different species of tetranychoid mites on the same plant are noted.
Key words: tetranychoid mites, city green plantings, distribution of species, index of species occurrence (finding index), index of domination.
